German carmaker BMW Group has registered global sales of 1,845,186 vehicles in 2012,up 10.6%compared to the 1,668,982 units sold in 2011.
The company sold 181,571 vehicles in December 2012,14.8%rise over the 158,125 units sold in same month of 2011.
BMW board of management member Ian Robertson said that the firm achieved its best ever sales result for the second year in a row and expanded its lead in the premium segment.
"Our success can be attributed to our attractive model portfolio,the strength of our premium brands,as well as a strategy of balanced sales across all continents,"Robertson added.
"This year marks the beginning of a new era for the BMW Group,as we launch the all-electric BMW i3 towards the end of the year."
During 2012,the BMW brand sales increased 11.6%to 1,540,085 units,over the sales of 1,380,384 units in 2011.
MINI's global sales in December reached 28,751 units,which further allowed the firm's sales through out the year to 301,526 units,a 5.8%growth from the previous year.
BMW Group reported 31.6%and 11.9%rise in vehicle sales in Asia and the US markets respectively,compared to the earlier year.
